How to review a potential match
Repeatable review steps for assessing name similarity with contextual data.
A potential match means the screening system has identified a record for closer review. It does not mean the customer is a listed party.
Compare strong identifiers first
Date of birth, citizenship, address, identity number and company registration data provide stronger context than name similarity. Mark contradictory and missing fields separately.
Record the research chain
Capture which records and official sources were reviewed and why the outcome was reached. A simple “clear” or “match” label is not enough for an audit trail.
Define a second-review rule
For high-risk or uncertain cases, define a second reviewer and escalation route. Measure resolution times alongside operating capacity.
Past decisions can guide research, but should not replace review of new or changed context.
